Flashback to the 1980s

I feel like the only thing she's missing for her Jazzercise class is a Walkman.

Of course, this reminded me of Flashdance and then I thought of Flashbeagle, so in honor of Peanuts' 60th anniversary this Saturday, I had to post this video.

Sleeping Beauty

...is Chloe's name today.

She's taken two very long naps. Judging by these pictures, I think she's still feeling the effects of yesterday's shots. Bless her little heart.

She rubs her ears when she's sleepy.

Still looking snazzy in the outfit Shorty made!

On the plus side, it's given me a chance to:

  1. get caught up on laundry.
  2. write a couple of thank you notes.
  3. make some more of these fun leg warmers.

4 months

Chloe, it's September 28, 2010 and you are four months old today!

We went to see your pediatrician today for your well check up. She says you are a looong baby! You are 25.5 inches long and that puts you in the 90th percentile for height! You are 14lbs and 8 oz. which is the 75th percentile.

You are super healthy. The only time you've been to the doctor is for your well check-ups. I suspect you had a virus a few weeks ago because you were very conjested and sleepy. (I think you caught it from our neighbor's daughter since she had been a little sick.) We didn't take you to the doctor because you were happy, eating fine and they can't do anything for a virus anyway.

You are sleeping through the night and naps are getting a little better. You usually have one long nap in the afternoon and a couple of short ones in the morning but it's still hit and miss.

You have still only had breastmilk (which blows my mind). The doctor told us today that we can start solids at six months. A few weeks before we go in for your 6 month appointment we are supposed to try a little rice or oatmeal cereal. That will be fun! I'll just go ahead and stock up on plastic drop clothes now.

We are waiting on you to start rolling over again. You sleep on your side and can get yourself into that position so I know you CAN roll over. You just aren't motivated to do it since you hate being on your tummy. We are still doing tummy time but you play for a bit and then slam your face into the ground and scream rather than rolling over to your back. (Stuborn like your parents?)

Your favorite game is airplane. You love to fly above our heads. You open your mouth as wide as you can when we hold you up in the air. It's pretty amusing to watch.

We are waiting on a laugh but the doctor said not to worry. It's still a little early for laughter; although, you squeel pretty good sometimes.

You are so much fun Chloe. We just can't get enough of you and you are growing up so fast. It's bittersweet.

We love you, Miss Chloe!

Pancan 5K 2010

-------HISTORY-------

For those of you who don't know, our family lost my grandpa, Don Light, to Pancreatic Cancer in February of 2008. While we all miss him (understatement of the year), this is not meant to be a sad post.

However, I do want people to know that Pancreatic Cancer (like all cancers) is very serious. According to Wikipedia, "...it is estimated about 43,140 individuals will be diagnosed with this condition" by the end of 2010. Less than 5% of those will be alive in 5 years. Grim? Yes.

They call it the 'silent' disease because by the time you have symptoms you are usually in the later stages of the disease. Find symptoms here.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

-------5K-------

This was the second year for the race. I ran with my family last year .  Last year there were only about 400 participants. This year they came close to 800! Will they double it again next year? I hope so!

Before the race.

Runners to your mark. Get set.

Chloe sporting her pancan purple.

Go!

My favorite part of a race!

I am running in this picture...doesn't look like it.

Passing that whipper snapper.

My running made her sleepy...or getting up at 6:45 did?

Looks like I'm winning. I'm not.

This skinny lady is passing me.
I want the record to show I beat her skinny a$$ and her fake tatas by quite a bit.

I'm exhausted here. It's 3 miles into the race.

Don't judge my time. I had a baby 4 months ago!
(At least that's what I'm telling myself.)

Walk it off.

After the race. Chloe is asleep and you can't see her :(

Pancan purple nails.

~Granthamania Style~ Master Bedrooms

Kelly from Kelly's Korner does a Friday series called 'Show Us Your Life.' I believe this is her second time to run through the series. Since I missed it the first time, I'm going to try and participate this time around.

Like Kelly, our master bedroom is one of my least favorites. Since nobody ever really sees it I have been lazy and cheap about decorating it. I need to do something to it soon.

Nevertheless, here is the Granthmaniacs' master bedroom. I DID NOT move all the clutter from our room to another one to take these pictures.

Love our vaulted ceiling.
Signatures from our wedding guests. Love this!
Night stand...wish we had two.
Old school television but it was free!
(hand-me-down from my Mom and Dad)
Detail on the antique furniture. It was my great-grandmothers.
My mom gave it to me and I'm giving it to Chloe once she's out of the crib.
I love to read! Yes, that's the Twilight series! Yes, I'm a little embarrassed by it.
One of my favorite pictures of us and our wedding invite.
Shrine to us?
Not sure what to do with these shelves.
Bassinet that Chloe never used (she's been in her own room since day 1).

I've had all the furniture in our room since I was in about the 2nd grade. I love it but I'm ready for a king size bed. The headboard is made for a full size matress but we have a quess size on it. I think once Chloe is out of her crib and ready for big girl things, Mark and I will go furniture shopping and get a bedroom suit for us.

How To: Baby Leg Warmers

Everybody and their dogs babies are sporting the new fall fashion must have: baby leg warmers. I love them but I'm not going to pay $8-$15 for them. I found this on the internet.

The solution to my cheap thrifty ways!

I had an unused pair of fun tube socks lying around so I dusted off the old sewing machine and went to town.

Here is the finished product. Now I just need bugsy to wake up so she can try them on. If this works, mommy is headed to Target for $1 socks!

------UPDATE------

Well, Chloe bug woke up and tried on her warmers. Not too shabby for our first attempt that took less than 5 minutes. I'll have more to show off later.

How To: Baby Tutu

I wanted to share this link in case anyone was interested in making their baby a tutu. This is where I learned how...Baby Tutu...it's super easy and QUICK.

Like this one...
Or as seen here with our friend, Katie!

Storytime with Chloe

I love to read. Mom and Dad read to me every every night. This is one of my favorite books. It is filled with classic children's stories and beautiful illustrations. Tonight we read Little Red Riding Hood.
I enjoyed the story but I think my mommy was just playing with the aperture and focus on her new camera.

What's with all the posts?
