1 Month

Chloe,it's June 28, 2010 and you are one month old today! We've learned a lot together in the past month.

You don't sleep much during the day. At night, you only wake up once usually. Most nights you will sleep at least five hours but you have slept for 7-8!!
You aren't smiling yet, but you grin when you see something you like. I know you're about to give a big ol' smile and I can't wait!
You have rolled over a few times starting the first week we brought you home. You are so strong and when you get mad at tummy time, you just push yourself over to your back.
You have been holding your head up since birth. When you are on your tummy, you look all around with your eyes wide open.
You're leaning how to make cooing noises and they are so sweet.
You've already taken your first road trip. We went to Houston last weekend to see your Shorty and Pop! Your parents survived the three hour road trip despite one diaper blowout.
We love you, Miss Chloe!

Postpartum Blue Jeans

I have to celebrate with you fellow bloggers and blog stalkers.

I have been hitting the scale daily hoping to see some semblance of my pre-pregnancy body. Don't get me wrong, I love my new curves but I don't want to wear maternity clothes FORVER! Although, you may remember a time when I claimed that maternity clothes were awesome and I DID want to wear them forever. Times have changed.

I hit my pre-pregnacy weight about two weeks after Chloe's arrival. What I now realize: that weight does not allow me to fit into my old clothes. Pregnancy warps your body in strange and wonderful ways. So I stepped off the scale for a few days.

Today I tried on my old jean Capri pants (granted the largest size pants I own without elastic but whatever...). And...

THEY FIT!!! They are even a little baggy! So, I am well on my way to putting up the maternity clothes for a while (I hope).

Now, if the doctor would just clear me to run and lift. I want to start P90X again!

Nap Time

Chloe had a rough day. She just wanted to cuddle ALL day! So the only
way I could get her to take a nap was to lay down with her in our
(mark and I) bed. This is after I got up. She's so sweet!
She's now sleeping in her crib while I get some much needed housework
done.

A Little Update

I'm finding it hard to write about anything but Chloe now. But, that's what you want right!?!

Chloe went to her 2 week checkup on Monday. She's doing really well. Her weight is up a whole pound since birth so she's 8 lbs. 3 oz. now! The doctor said to let her sleep as long as she wants at night. I'm really glad that I don't have to set an alarm to wake her up and feed her.

Our first walk on May 31, 2010. We go on a walk every night for two reasons: 1. it helps mommy get back down to her prepregnancy state 2. Our little hippie baby is one with nature and loves being outside. When she's fussy it's one of the only ways to calm her (guess it runs in the family, right mom?).

Her 'stump' fell off so we can bathe her now! Here is her first official bath and we found out that the sink is a bit too small so last night we used the tub. She loves it (for a little while)!

Here is our video from the right after she was born. Mark put it on the computer and I found it. It's not that interesting but I enjoy hearing her first cries again. You can hear us cheering her on to cry more. This is before they took her away because she wasn't crying good enough and they thought she had too much fluid in her lungs. Everything was fine!

Vogue

Here is a sneak peak at Chloe's newborn photo shoot. I must say, she is a natural. Our little super model.

The photographer, Melissa Ferro Cole, and I used to work together. She was also our engagement and wedding photographer. I could not be more pleased with these photos and cannot wait to send out our announcements and show off her work and our Chloe!

The Big Day

It has taken me awhile to get this post up. Mostly because I couldn't decide what to share.I was going to share the whole thing but have decided against it. So Mark and I will keep this story to ourselves (for the most part).

Our delivery was induced. There were several reasons for this and it was not my request. The suggestion was made by our doctor for the safety of Chloe. Chloe was my primary concern during our labor; creating an 'enjoyable birthing experience' was not.

The bottom line is that at 11:22 p.m. on May 28, 2010 our little Chloe was born with some help from a wonderful doctor. We were a little nervous for a while but thankfully everything was fine. They did have to take Chloe away for a bit because she inhaled some fluid. Here is our story in pictures (captions below pictures)!

Before the hard work began.

My parents and brother stopped by to offer moral support.

Chloe was not getting enough oxygen so I had to lay on my left side and have oxygen.

This is what pure joy looks like.

Can you see where they used the suction cup on her? She's still recovering from that but it looks sooo much better. Bless her heart; she came out sunny side up (I'd rather not do that again!).

Our precious angel sent straight from heaven.

Perfect family of 3!

Here is our first spongebath at home. Daddy is such a big help!

A BIG THANKS to my mom for helping out the first week. It was nice to have encouragement, moral support and help changing diapers and doing laundry :). Love you!!
