Hippie Halloween

I made Chloe's Halloween costume this year. I'm pretty pleased with it. I got the idea on Pinterest. I made bell bottoms by inserting a triangle of matching fabric to the legs of Chloe's jeans. I got that idea from my mom, who explained to me how they used to make their bell bottoms even wider-legged than they already were by adding fabric.

Chloe fits in really well in our town now!

Nobody knows hippies like Grandpa, DonDon...he attended graduate school at USC in the 60s.

The Sweet Berry Farm Tradition

We took Chloe to Sweet Berry Farm today. If we though getting a picture of Chloe was difficult last year, this year was next to impossible. Our child will run the opposite direction from us no matter what is going on around her and she WILL NOT sit still for even a second. People say it's boys that tend to be all over the place and fearless. I will argue that is not true.

You would think she would be interested in the pumpkins. No. She would rather run around and watch her feet move across the dirt. Whatever floats her boat, I guess. We had a lot of fun but it was H.O.T.

Sleeping on the car ride there.

Enough about the pumpkin, mom. Let's go see horses.

Not too thrilled with kisses.

She made it out of the maze safe and sound.

Horses, dad! Do you see the horses?

She's concerned because she sees a child crying while riding the horse.

She wanted to bring a goat home. I'm not kidding.

This one.

Look a 'Scare-chlo'

the only half-way decent picture of Chloe

I think her favorite part of the day was the horses, which is her new word for all large animals...

See how happy she is? It's because of a horse! Wow...may have to move to the country.
Chloe wants a pony, dad.

First Haircut (or something like that)...

When Mark came home from work today, he set his workout bag and briefcase down by the front door and kissed Chloe and I hello per his usual routine . He had a phone call scheduled with one of his clients, so Chloe and I stayed downstairs where I was working on dinner.

Normally Mark trims his goatee and shaves the day before he goes to work so he doesn't have his dopp kit in his bag. Apparently, he took it to the gym this morning to shave instead. I never heard the buzzing noise. I smelled Mark's cologne and realized she was playing with his 'sweet smell'um.' When I starting picking up stuff and putting it back in Mark's dopp kit, I noticed it...a pile of long blond hair!

I said, "is this yours?" to Chloe as I started to scoop it up. I quickly turned her head so I could see the side and noticed a bald spot about 2 inches wide and one inch long on the side of her head! I started laughing but I wanted to cry.

it's more noticable than this picture shows...
For those of you who know about her Alfalfa's safe. She still has it. I'm going to tie a ribbon around it and cut it for her scrap book tomorrow...before anymore hair CUTtastrophes strike.

I can feel fall creeping in...

and I wish it would come sooner! Seriously, I love summer and I hate to see it go but this year has been ridiculous. We still haven't seen a drop of rain at our house. We are on stage 2 water restrictions and all the public boat ramps are closed now because there is not enough water in Lake Travis to reach them. We have seen record breaking temperatures all summer long. 112 was the hottest and most days were around 104-107. I'm tired of it. Of course, I'll be bitching about the 'cold' weather soon enough.

Now that the days are cooler (94-98 degrees), we've been hitting up the local parks for some outdoor time including the 3rd birthday of our dear friends', Chris and Katie, son Cohen. Here are a few pictures of Chloe running amok. Enjoy!
