Halloween 2013

I suppose I'll post some of our Halloween festivities. I haven't been and won't be blogging much. I simply don't have the time with two kiddos. Well, I have the time...I just want to use the time for other things. I will be continuing to post MJ's monthly updates. I like going back to look at Chloe's so I owe her (and myself) that. With that said, here is our Halloween:


A few days before Halloween, we carved our pumpkins. Chloe didn't really enjoy it. I should have let her paint a pumpkin instead. She just didn't like the gooey pumpkin innards. Live and learn.

Chloe chose her own costume this year. She wanted to be the yellow Angry Bird. So I took the liberty of dressing Mackenzie as the pig from the game to compliment Chloe's costume. I know they won't want to do themed costumes for long, so I'm taking advantage now.

My mom came to town to watch Chloe's pre-school parade. So I recruited her as the blue Angry Bird and we passed out candy at the trunk or treat for Chloe's school. I just love Halloween! This was C's first year to really trick or treat. We only let her go to two houses last year. This year, we all over our neighborhood with her friend Kara and her family.

She was so excited when she went to one of our neighbors' house and he answered the door dressed as a pirate! She told me that she met Captain Hook and he was nice. Oh the world through the eyes of child! It's so magical. I love people like that...they take some time out of their busy lives to brighten the world of others...especially children.

The back of my car decorated for Trunk or treat! Super fun! I spent $3 on the decor by using dollar store purchases and crafting supplies I already owned.

Easter Sneak Peak

Chloe and I stepped outside today to get some pictures of her in the adorable Easter outfit Shorty made. It was pretty wet outside this morning so I didn't get to take the amount of time I was hoping for to get the 'perfect' shot. However, Chloe surprised me by giving me a few adorable poses. She certainly gets prissy when she puts a dress on these days.

 

When we were finished taking photographs, I asked her to "Come inside so you don't get your dress yucky." She misunderstood and thought that she had already made a mess on her dress. She freaked. There were tears galore while she sobbed, "My princess dress is ruined." Thankfully, I was able to explain to her that the dress was fine and she calmed down. 

 

These are the things she does that make me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Sweet girl, you are so very passionate about life and everything you do.

Sweet Berry Farm 2012

In keeping with our family tradition, we visited Sweet Berry Farm a few weekends ago. I'm pretty sure I rave about it every year. It's a fantastic place and if you live in Central Texas you must make a trip out there.

Now that Chloe is getting older, we are able to stay longer and participate in more activities. This year we tried to take a horse ride. However, Chloe was a little skeptical of the situation so we had our tickets refunded. She did cry about not getting to ride the horse once we arrived back at our house. Maybe next year?

We didn't let the missed horse ride ruin our fun...we fed goats, painted a pumpkin, had an adventure in the corn maze and rolled in the grass. This is one of my favorite days of the year for our family.

A Texas St. Patty's Day

A couple of weeks ago, Mark's cousin and his wife came to town. They live in Portland so when they come to town we try to show them the best parts of life in Texas. They are pretty good at having an idea of what they want to do and they have good taste so it makes it pretty easy. For instance, we always eat way too much our weight in BBQ when they come to town.

This year we all lucked out because their trip was smack dab in the middle of the Austin Rodeo. So on St. Patrick's Day, we celebrated Texas style by heading out to the BBQ cook off. The pulled pork tacos from our friends' team "Here for Beer" were the best! Chloe's clearly a fan.

After all the BBQ, we went to go see the livestock. Chloe and Mark had never been to a livestock show, fair or rodeo.
